A battered Austin Seven appeared on the roof of Cambridge University overnight in June 1958, when 12 engineering students hoisted an Austin Seven to the top of the Senate House (thank you Steve!)

They found a derelict Austin Seven van in Harston and towed it into Cambridge, they took out the engine and removed the wheels to make it light enough to winch up to the roof, and hauled it up using cables and scaffolding they'd stolen from King's College.

this 68 Camaro 427 Motion set a 10.45-second quarter-mile record

And the 2nd owner was racing a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda one night when the police showed up and set a blockade.

While the Cuda stopped, the Camaro drove past the blockade. The cops tried shooting the tires, and a bullet hit the car's quarter panel.

the Brothers Collection Museum now has 2 new ways to see the collection, and the money goes to charities. It is now open to the general public only a few days a year via pre-sold tickets, and is having a cruise in this August

Awareness about this historical array of hot rides used to be really difficult unless you knew someone who knew someone who knew someone. Fortunately, the owners are now making those special dates and ticket information a little more easily discoverable through their new website: www.thebrotherscollection.com

They have also added a new and different opportunity to see the museum: The Brothers Collection is hosting the 1st Annual Brothers Collection Cruise-In August 17, a huge outdoor car show at the venue that includes admission to the museum. The event details can be found here https://brotherscollection.ticketspice.com/cruise-in-2025

A moment to share with you a real fun Chuck Berry song - No Particular Place To Go

… Ridin' along in my automobile
My baby beside me at the wheel
I stole a kiss at the turn of a mile
My curiosity runnin' wild
Crusin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go

… Ridin' along in my automobile
I's anxious to tell her the way I feel
So I told her softly and sincere
And she leaned and whispered in my ear
Cuddlin' more and drivin' slow
With no particular place to go

… No particular place to go
So we parked way out on the Kokomo
The night was young and the moon was gold
So we both decided to take a stroll
Can you image the way I felt
I couldn't unfasten her safety belt

… Ridin' along in my calaboose
Still tryna get her belt a-loose
All the way home I held a grudge
For the safety belt that wouldn't budge
Crusin' and playin' the radio
With no particular place to go

This is a fun song, about a car with a small but crucial problem when taking a date out for a cruise.... and it mentions a "Kokomo" and when I tried looking that up, the internet just refers to the Kokomo that the Beach Boys sang about.

The song "Kokomo" by The Beach Boys references a fictional island getaway off the Florida Keys, a place that doesn't actually exist.

Real "Kokomo" Locations:
Kokomo, Indiana: A city in Howard County, also the county seat.
Kokomo, Arkansas: An unincorporated area in Lee County.
Kokomo, Colorado: A ghost town in Summit County.
Kokomo, Hawaii: A community on the island of Maui.
Kokomo, Texas:
Kokomo, Mississippi: An unincorporated community in Marion County

John Krasinski has a movie coming out where he drives a Shelby Cobra. Stanley Tucci and Natalie Portman co-star, Guy Ritchie directs. Premiers May 23rd

last September the apparel company Tuner Cult gifted a Nevada man a 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Last Friday the Porsche was going 85 in a 45, swerved to avoid another car, and left the road, but landed on the wheels

and here's what it looked like when it was given away:

The sheriff’s office noted that the driver was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence as well as possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

2025 Ford Mustang GTD Spirit Of America

Magpul decided around 2013 that they wanted to conduct some business in a high-class environment, and elegantly restored a 1952 Flxible to do the job . . .

On the inside, Magpul has stocked the cabinet with 1950’s era weaponry. The top row of the cabinet has a line of 1911 handguns, and below that are a slew of Thompson submachine guns

Due a policy change at Ford, Revology is no longer permitted to build licensed reproduction Mustang rolling chassis.

Ford has decided to implement a new policy regarding its vehicle licensing agreements as of January 1st, 2025. Ford’s new policy is to license only products that comply with NHTSA regulations for new vehicles or are not sold for use on public roads. Revology remains in good standing with Ford and is presently evaluating the feasibility of compliance with the new policy.

Revology was even created by Tom Scarpello, the former Marketing & Sales Manager for Ford’s Special Vehicle Team

the chief of a volunteer fire department in New Jersey plead guilty to throwing buckets of rocks and debris on a rare (1 of 30) 1995 Nismo 270R in retaliation for a next door neighbor issue of how water drained from the car owners land to the fire dept land

The 270R—a version of the S14 Silvia tuned in-house by Nismo—is undeniably rare and particularly desirable, and this example was reportedly owned by Japanese racing legend and “Drift King” Keiichi Tsuchiya

The rocks caused chips, scratches, and dents to the paint

The nearly $8,000 that the fire chief has already paid in restitution doesn't cover a new paint job, but that's not the key issue, the 270R’s originality.

Bahna claims the coupe was a matching-numbers example in “mint condition” that was still wearing its original paint and decals. He adds that it now needs to be professionally restored, which will significantly reduce its value as an “all-original collector’s specimen,” and that a deal to sell the car for $500,000 fell through following the incident. He claims that he’s been unable to sell it since. (sounds like a lot of bullshit from someone that needs to get this case resolved, and hopes for half that much in a settlement instead of jury trial)

Mark Bahna says he found the 270R, which is 1 of approximately 30 built, covered in rocks and footage captured by his security cameras shows the chief of the volunteer fire department, dumping buckets of rocks onto the rare car, destroying the original paint.

Bahna lives right next to the fire station and Scolnick admitted to police that he vandalized the 270R because he didn’t like the way water drained from Bahna’s property onto the fire station’s.

some kid who didn't know their future would be working as an automotive journalist photographed a LOT of the semis at a rest area off I-5 in 1972!

lol

Leno got to drive one of my favorite historic cars, the Thomas Flyer

The National Historic Vehicle Register, the program that records the history of America’s most significant automobiles, and it's an interesting yardstick to judge my, or any other, website about cool cars. A great site would have most of these, an amazing site would have them all and thousands of others

I think I've only never heard of, and not posted, the 1896 Benton Harbor Motor Carriage

it turns out there are some really strange things that happen on April Fools day, that get in the news... that aren't prank news headlines. Here's one, the Mackinac Bridge shut down today, which I've never heard of happening before, because of falling ice due to serious rain, freezing temps, etc

if you don't know what you're doing, get someone else to do it for you

oddly, none of the vehicles in Star Wars....

 have tires.

Exactly how they get vehicles towed, such as when a ship needs to be moved into or out of a hanger, or arranged on an spaceport? Was overlooked I suppose

Russians are preparing to send an almost 75-year-old GAZ-69 to the battlefront.

England is on the verge of shutting down the World Economic Forum's "15 Minute Cities" programme after almost all the cameras were destroyed and 50,000 people refused to pay the fines.

the Blade Runners activist group has neutralised 90% of the cameras installed under a zero-emission scheme that penalizes vehicles that fail to meet standards.

what in the world was airplane malt, and why was a company named that?
